ADD/ADHD is one of my top subjects! I worked as a social worker and coached children in the school and home setting.

My teaching style incorporates all learning styles, because I am a firm believer that we all learn differently. I am a very patient and passionate teacher. Being excited about the subject is key to being a successful teacher. However, I expect my students to be motivated and to give 100 percent effort to their studies.
I studied Elementary Education during my undergraduate. During this time, I was a student teacher on several different occasions. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe making the information relevant to the student is important. I like to use humor and real-life examples to keep students engaged. I believe that it is important to know how the child learns to be able to present the material to them in the best manner for them which is what I would base my style on.
I obtained Secondary Teacher Certification in Social Sciences. I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I was an at home teacher for my school district when children were out for extended periods due to illness. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with others and love to see the “light” come on when a student finally understands a concept.

I have always loved working with young people and helping them achieve their potential. I have worked with mainstream and honors students to behavior disorder and severely cognitively impaired youth. I believe there are no throw-away kids and that given the right environment and opportunities, all students can learn. My goal is to provide the best education possible and make my services become obsolete for each student. I am a graduate of North Carolina State University with a BA in Sociology. My interest in people and passion for helping others has lead me to many great opportunities. I have worked with the North Carolina Department of Human Resources, and aided/taught/mentored in the developmentally disabled and at-risk populations. I have had the chance to utilize my education and abilities in the Deland-Weldon school system for the past four years.
