Drawing is one of my top subjects! I teach the tools and skills to draw from life, from foundation level to advanced. Working from still life, the landscape and possibly any subject matter that interests the student, we will learn how to translate what we see into convincing and successful renditions in graphite pencil, charcoal, or pastel. We'll start with basic drawing skills, developing proportion, shading and composition and move on to tackling ambitious projects, capturing a convincing sense of light, and playing with the poetics of drawing. One-on-one attention is given in a supportive and creative atmosphere.

I received my Bachelor of Arts in both Studio Art and Psychology from Brandeis University, Boston, and continued my studies for two years at the Jerusalem Studio School in Jerusalem, Israel, as a member of the Master Class with Israel Hershberg. I then received my Master of Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and went on to teach at the Delaware College of Art and Design,Swarthmore College and Cornell College, as well as offering private lessons to all ages. I currently teach art online for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
My teaching style is encouraging and stimulating. I love what I do and I really enjoy sharing my knowledge with others. I instruct specifically to the level of the student: from beginner to highly advanced. I've also been told that I'm pretty funny but you'll have to make up your own mind about that.

It is both amazing and fulfilling for me to utilize my education and communication skills to assist both children and adults in learning to better understand their subjects in school. I realize that every individual is different and has their own conception of what style of learning works for him or her. I am a very patient, observant, and kind-hearted. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been a lover of children starting in middle school volunteering at learning activities for children. Since then, I have developed skills in teaching, especially in the area of reading. I attended Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied English and Spanish literature, Ancient Greek, history and philosophy. I graduated with an MFA in English from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in May of 2008, and I am currently the Provost’s Post-Graduate Writing Fellow in fiction at the University of Iowa. I have three years of experience teaching college students in English and creative writing. I have also occasionally tutored students at the University of Iowa in Ancient Greek.
