Working with children has always been my passion. As a fourth year special education teacher, I have an extensive repertoire of strategies to help students learn. Having worked with both disabled and nondisabled children, primarily in small group and 1:1 settings, I have developed an acute sense of each of my students' learning styles, strengths and needs. Most of my career has involved some level of teachng or training. I trained new volunteers during the Peace Corps, I taught rural Tunisian families how to use available resources to improve their lives, training natural education instructors and volunteers at the Wells Reserve, traqining and coordinating volunteers within my roles as Executive Director, completing all course requirements for my Maine Teacher Certification, obtaining Ed. Tech III, Highly Qualified status in Maine, and substitute teaching, and now in my role as Title I, Ed. A Little Bit About Me...

My first experience as a teacher came in high school when I held a part-time job at a Kumon Math and Reading Center. As an undergraduate student at Columbia University I held several after school tutoring positions, some paid and some volunteer. Upon graduation I decided to join Teach For America. For the past year and a half I have been teaching high school mathematics in rural Hawaii while concurrently pursuing a master of education in teaching degree from the University of Hawaii. Next fall I will be entering the MBA program at the MIT Sloan School of Management, but I will always remain interested in teaching.

As an MIT graduate, I was particularly driven to excel in science and mathematics courses so as to be able to apply these to engineering and technology problems. I subsequently obtained two doctorate degrees: one in medicine and the second in law. I am currently working on the development and patenting of medical devices to improve medical care for patients.
