My comments on tutoring Elementary Grammar : In Home or Library only

I truly enjoy working one on one with students. I get to know each student and family so that I can work to meet the individual needs of each student. Then I address those individual needs through personalized lesson plans to teach to the strengths of the whole child. With older students this can also be accomplished ONLINE in selected subjects. I am compassionate, kind, and patient. Especially for the younger students I understand that games and fun activities are important to maintain interest as well as short spans of time on each activity. Even for older students we will move from one activity to another to decrease any boredom.

Elementary Grammar is one of my top subjects! I have taught elementary grades for over 15 years.

I have taught "students" from age 3 to age 73. Most of my experience has been in elementary classroom situations, but I have tutored individual students, taught computer skills to business classes and senior citizens, as well as business technology classes in a community college. I am also a co-founder of a small non-graded school which has now existed for over 40 years and is recognized as an established school by the state of Ohio. I enjoy teaching and enriching the lives of those with whom I have the privilege of working.
My teaching style is to engage the student as much as possible and to utilize as many senses as possible. I will often use a "game" to practice a skill. When teaching a skill, my emphasis is understanding "why" something is done a particular way rather than stressing straight memorization.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching since 2005. My career began in Las Vegas, Nevada teaching 7th grade U.S. History at Sedway Middle School followed by Hyde Park Middle School (2005-2010). I have 2+ years teaching 11th grade AP and Honors U.S. History at Southwest Career and Technical Academy (2010-2012). I attended Ohio University Athens for Speech Therapy for four years and am now finishing my undergraduate degree online. Highly Qualified Intervention Specialist
