Mike's Guitar Studio is based on the belief that the students needs are of the utmost importance. The Studio is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. Lessons are catered towards what the student wants to learn. There is no one method that works for each student. Each student has different ways of learning, we recognize this and apply it to our teaching policy. The Lessons should be a fun and positive experience as the student progresses on his or her instrument. The primary instructor/ owner, Mike Benninger, has a B.M. in music performance from Keene State College and a M.M. in music performance from the Yale School of Music. Mike's Guitar Studio is located in New Windsor in Mike's Home Recording/Music studio. Recording can be an added tool for recording lessons, songs, pieces, and ideas.

I am an extremely talented music teacher and accomplished pianist who is proficient in reading, composing and developing musical programs. I have been working part time at Alexander Hamilton Middle /High School for 3 years and have had the chance to learn, grow and refine my skills; the only thing better would be a full time music appointment. Trained classically, I am able to incorporate traditional choral techniques with a contemporary and “pop” approach that bring out the best in each student.

Although I have only held my BM in Music Education for a little over a year, I have always sought out opportunities to hone my skills as a teacher. While I was still earning that degree, I was the person many of my peers approached to help them understand music theory when they were stuck. None of them failed their tests after a few extra lessons with me. Since graduating, I have been working at a special education school as a one on one aide, and I am constantly making effort to coax out the musical side of my students, often with positive and exciting results. I have recently graduated from Purchase College with an Undergraduate degree in Music with a minor in English. During School I tutored students in English composition and edited students essays and papers during the entirety of my undergraduate education. I have also taught voice and music theory to students privately. In High-school I scored a 97 percent out of 100 on the English regents exam. I recently received a full scholarship to complete my masters at the University of Maryland.
I will fit my teaching to the client. If a student learns with visuals, I will use visuals. If a student is an aural learner, I will cater to that side.
