My comments on tutoring Government : I have studied government and can teach the subject.

I learn visually and by reading the subject materials. I teach by showing students what they need to know by reading and using visual aids in my teaching style. I incorporate technology in my teaching because some students are hands on. I teach students in groups and individually.
I will be graduating from the University of Dayton with a Master's of Education degreee and I have a Bachelor’s degree in History. I love History and want to teach Social Studies in grades 4th-9th. I have completed a MAST (Mathematics as Strategic Teaching) Seminar. I have completed training over engaging difficult students and I have also learned more innovative techniques in which to use when engaging students who are trying to achieve more challenging skills. I designed a program called Math Mates, which was an after school intervention program for students who needed more hands on time for learning, I opened the program up for all students but set aside certain days when specific students were invited so we could use more hands on manipulative and we worked on the different content standards.

I love teaching and working with others, especially children. I first like to start with finding out where the child is confused by going over and re-teaching past assignments that were misunderstood. I like to go over past tests and make sure they understand what they missed and teach them the correct answer. I believe that this is very important so they can grasp future material. I think teaching style should revolve around the needs of the student. The last person I tutored, I created worksheets and practical exercises that served to help him learn the material. Worksheets worked well since he was studying for a final exam. The music videos and lyrics I told him to watch and read, were all meant to reinforce the grammatical lesson. In his case, when we met in person we did oral and speaking practice in addition to reviewing the worksheets. That is just one example, and I think that it really does revolve around the specific needs and goals of the student.
I worked for four (4) years at the Columbus Spanish Immersion Academy, I tutored the last couple of years a few high school students in Spanish, I have translated for the VITA tax clinic/Spanish Coalition/Latino Empowerment Outreach Network, and I have served as a translator for Cracker Barrel.
