A Little Bit About Me...

In the year of 2004, I began substitute teaching for public schools such as North Fork, Licking Valley, Heath and Granville. In the year of 2008, I began going to the country of India to teach English to students who were nationals as well as from the countries of Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Some of these students were already fluent while others could not speak any English. Within three months, they were able to read, write and speak English. I also had the opportunity to teach in a public school while I was there. In each classroom there were anywhere from eighty to one hundred children. I taught them the English alphabet, reading, writing as well as basic understanding and dialogue.

I have always loved working with students and have been volunteering with them at my church since I graduated from high school in 2006. During my senior year at Ohio State, I began working with an after-school program comprised of bilingual children that live in Columbus, where I started helping kids with their homework (in Spanish and English). After I graduated with my degree in Spanish and Communication, I began tutoring one of my friends for one of her college Spanish courses and got a job giving homework help and running an after-school program for a bilingual school in Ohio.
I like walking students through the steps to get to the answer, rather than just giving it to them. I want to affirm your child in everything so that they know that they are special. I spent 40 years in as a professional in workforce development assisting youth and adults to make educational, professional and career decision. I have written grants to bring in millions of dollars for the state of Ohio and citizens. I have worked as a substitute in Columbus and served for five years as an Ohio Reads tutor in the Columbus and Groveport schools. Since retirement, I have worked with youth in the Americorp and WIA programs as an advisor and program evaluator. I also have experience with dispute resolution and public relations.
