My comments on tutoring Guitar : I've been teaching the basics to guitar for the past 6 years.

I have always approached a teaching lesson as a learning opportunity. Learning is a fundamental skill. If you don't have your basic fundamentals, your student will have difficulty advancing. So, I always start with basic fundamentals such as; note taking, study skills, and comprehension! All sciences demand the ability to link concepts together. Ex. cells make up tissues, tissues make up organs, organs make up organ systems,etc.....! By understanding the make-up of cellular structures and relating that to tissue functions the students can fully understand a subject. This proves true with all subjects. By impowering the student with good base fundamentals, my students find it easier to link concepts together.
I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students i ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to have the students actively participating in the lessons. They enjoy working out the lesson examples and problems on the media that is used so all of the class can see the successes and where we need more work and explanation. Hands on work is very valuable such as working with graphing calculators. The students enjoy manipulatives and technology where they can make their own discoveries. Math and the graphing calculator have become one in the same, so I use them constantly in the classroom.
I have been teaching for seven years-mostly math and some language arts. The math teaching included geometry, algebra 1, algebra 2, basic high school math and middle school math. One year my students had the highest improvement in standardized math test scores in the district, for the lower level students. My student test scores have always been high so I retained the scores. I have been playing the guitar for 35 years. I have played professionally in numerous bands and have been a musician for most of my life. For the past 5 years I have been teaching friends, neighbors and their children how to play the guitar. I have developed a system which I believe enables the student to learn the basics of guitar quickly and easily. It provides a solid foundation for more advanced guitar studies or a simple and easy introduction to guitar for young or casual musicians. I have had a successful professional career as an advertising art director for the past 25 years and I am now looking to slow down a little and spend my time doing what I enjoy, playing and teaching music.
I love teaching and playing the guitar. I believe that music and the arts are an essential part of a well-rounded education. I am patient and easy going and I love working with children. I be ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Each child is different. I always try to notice and acknowledge what benefits each student, as I think this applies to all forms of teaching from academics to athletics. Getting on their level is what ultimately benefits the child from the get go and gains their interest. If I'm interested, then the child is interested. I do my best to make sure the child is setting their goals and doing their best to achieve them in the way and style for which they are best suited.
I have two bachelors degrees, however, I believe it is my experience teaching children that has helped me develop a good sense on how to approaching teaching scenarios. I have years of experience teaching children in academics, music, and dramatic arts, as well as coaching basketball and teaching golf at the professional level.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent college graduate from the University of Central Florida I know what it takes to face a difficult situation and make the best of it. My first two years at a local community college were spent working 40+ hours a week so I could save up and have the opportunity to move away and further my education. During my time at UCF I was given the opportunity to become an Avid tutor at a local Middle School. My experiences learned as an avid tutor were invaluable and helped shaped what I want to do with the rest of my life: teach.
As an avid tutor I was required to follow the avid tutoring format. Before I joined the program I was unaware of what exactly this entailed. The avid program suggests groups of 5-7 students gather around a table with the avid tutor being placed at the head of the table. My job is not to tutor, but to rather facilitate the learning as students take turns p ... read more

As an undergraduate I started to tutor Chemistry in 2007. Since then I have tutored Chemistry to many different students in one-on-one and large group sessions. I have submitted by certification to be accepted by the State of Florida Department of Education and am awaiting confirmation. While in college I made straight A's for about 3 years, excelling in the sciences. I am very experienced with General Chemistry labs and lecture sessions. I am currently the Science Teacher at the First Academy Classical School program where I teach Biology and Chemistry part-time.
I love to cater to each students needs. That's why I love tutoring because I can do this. Some students are visual learners, some learn by hearing, and some by doing. I incorporate all of these into my tutoring. I want to see all of my students not only get good grades but to truly grasp the concepts.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach students in a way that they can relate to. Talk to them about their futures and what they would like to be when they grow up or when they graduate. I like to propose real life situations where they might have to or need to use math. I like to get to know them and learn about their interests and help them see how a certain subject could help them. I believe its about getting on their same level, gaining their respect and having them being comfortable with you. I have a proven track record of helping students succeed and having a different outlook on learning.
I am a graduate from the University of Central florida in Civil Engineering. Obtaining my degree has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition I am fluent in the Spanish language. I have over two years of work experience in an engineering environment. For the past year I ... read more
