As cliché as this sounds - my favorite part of teaching is the satisfaction of knowing I made a difference. I have interacted with individuals across countless backgrounds and understand the idea of each student needing to hear things in their own terms. The simple concept penetrates through my patient teaching style. Some of my favorite ways to connect with students is to create simple analogies using subjects which interest them. After beginning my tutoring experience as a volunteer with Metro North Adult Basic Education in 2003, I have continued to tutor students at various grade levels in many different subjects. I find it to be a tremendously rewarding experience. In addition to volunteering with Metro North to assist adults in preparing for their GED exams, I have worked as a paid tutor for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, Hennepin County Library and Club Z In-Home Tutoring.
