As a music graduate of Morehead State University, I was very much driven to achieve a level of excellence in education. I earned my BS is Music Education and have completed additional coursework required for re-certification. I have substiute taught many classes and did a long term position teaching 6th grade science. While teaching music for three years, I also worked as a tutor for Sylvan, where I gained tutoring skills. I also privately tutored in my home in the subject of math.
My teaching style is very hands on. I understand that students learn in a variety of ways. Some are hands on, and need to actually get their hands on the project to understand. I have taught on the secondary high school level for 36yrs.My various teaching assignments included the following: Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Sports Medicine, Health, Physical Education, CPR & AED Training. I have also coached on the same level the following sports at one time or another: Football, Wrestling, Track, Baseball, Golf, and Softball; as well as being a certified official in wrestling and softball. I have also participated in a numerous amount of "inservice" experiences.
I enjoy watching students learn and to see them grow in knowledge and their ability to solve various challenges as they mature. i try to set an example for the students to emulate by letting them know I was at their age at one time, and that I needed help along the way as well.
