I have always loved to teach – even as a child in front of a tiny blackboard in my living room, playing school with my sister. Since then, I have continuously sought opportunities to teach outside of my daily school and work life. As an undergraduate at Middlebury College, I volunteered to teach beginning German at a local elementary school. After college, I taught seventh-grade Faith Formation at my church and also led monthly, 3-hour Confirmation preparation classes. As an undergraduate, I worked as a College Algebra tutor for two years. This required 3 to 6 office hours a week were students would come to on need basis or if their grade fell below a 70. I would also attend algebra classes every week to help the professor and the students. I became a favorite to many students and professors and was kept busy because of all the recommendations I received. During my last semester as a tutor, the director had a car accident and was out for many weeks. I took the responsibility to coordinate and lead exam review sessions for 20+ students by myself.
