A Little Bit About Me...

I have a simple teaching style. I teach according to the students needs. I try to get a sense of how the student learns best and let them direct me to what they need. I teach the student to teach themselves. I have had great sucess with my approach in the past, as this is a very self-rewarding experience for the student. I have often found that students soon catch-on and then begin to excell on their own. I have used these techniques to tutor algebra, geometry, algebra II and psychology, political science, anatomy and physiology. I love to see that look in a students' eyes when they "get it!"

I believe strongly in providing not only educational support but in providing emotional stability and consistency for each child that I work with. I have worked with some of the most profoundly behaviorally impaired students in Michigan and have been able to help them learn to cope with their disabilities while becoming successful academically. I believe that by being highly structured, yet providing for individual differences, each student has the capacity to learn.
I graduated with honors from Grand Valley State University with my Bachelors in Psychology/Special Education in 1997. My areas of expertise include emotional impairments and cognitive impairments.
