I received an honors degree from Fairborn High School and Wright State University. Education has always been very important to me. While attending WSU for fine arts, I was reminded of my passion for teaching and decided to also acquire my art education certification. During my education program, I was placed in Xenia High School. I was also selected by the art education advisor as one of four students to take part in an innovative teaching class where I learned how to use art and music to teach science and math. I helped design and co-teach an art/math/music lesson to a 6th grade math class in Dayton Public Schools. I understand that some children respond to teaching styles that others do not. I am currently a graduating senior at Wilberforce University. When that day comes, I will have a BS in Biology. This degree has allowed me to gain hands on experience within different fields of study along with enhancing my kowledge of the biological sciences and all that it embodies. Also with Spanish, I have not had the experience of teaching but I have been learning the Spanish language for the last ten years (since the sixth grade). I can read as well as write the language and hold a descent conversation. I have previously worked as a tutor/mentor in this field of study for high school graduates. This particular job was to help fulfill a semester worth of requirements in 8 weeks. I enjoy teaching children of all ages, but I prefer to teach children within the middle school and high school ages. Nothing is better than seeing a huge smile on a child's face once they cath on to something. I love helping children learn by doing a lot of visual activities and practicing! I was always the only person who could help my younger sister study for tests because she said my teaching techinique is very helpful and makes her remember things. It always made me feel good knowing i was the only one who could help her study! When I first attended Wilmington College, I was in early childhood education. I completed a whole semester of student teaching and volunteered for tutoring after school. I finally had decided that teaching was not for me because I wanted more of an office setting job so i decided to major in business management. I have decided that I want to pursue in subsitute teaching so that I am able to help children and spend more time with my newborn.
