My comments on tutoring Earth Science : I currently hold license for all areas of Science. I also have a student growth improvement of 11 months in the area of Science.

I have been working with the school system for several years. I am currently teaching a fourth/fifth grade split. I am very experienced in working with children who are at risk, special needs, and add/adhd. I have a proven track record of student growth in core subjects of 1 year 3 months. I enjoy tutoring and teaching and I work a great deal with parents in order to keep the educational goals on the same page for their child. I have experience in both the world of sociology and psychology. I am able to adapt to behavioral issues that plague some children. I work hard to really get to know the student and help them calm themselves if they should have test anxiety etc. Every child is unique and all children have to be taught in the way in which they can truly learn. tutoring = 30 years: I have tutored students informally for as many years as I have been teaching. The topics I teach are difficult for many students, and some require out-of-class help. I have taught for nearly 30 years: a couple of years at a junior college in Cleveland, served as a TA in math and astronomy at OSU, then ~25 years at Denison Univ., and 4 years at a high school. Subjects taught: astronomy at Denison, physics at the jr. college, and physics, physical science, and Alg. II in high school. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in starting with the basics in all things. Reading starts with Phonics, and writing starts with Spelling and Vocabulary, as well as old-fashioned handwriting skills. An absolute staple of learning, in my opinion, is frequent reading for pleasure – whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, novels or comic books. I am patient and love to teach, even reluctant learners. I remember what it was like to not want to sit around and do schoolwork, so I don't expect children to be eager to do it.
