I have experience in accounting and taxes, in various industries. I started out with the Big Four, passed the CPA exam and moved to privately held businesses. Some were large operations, and others were very small. Small businesses are my favorite because of the great variety of job duties. I have experience in human resources, marketing, communications, and finance. I started tutoring math and English while in high school. When I was a senior at Ohio State, I tutored new accounting students. I was raised by a teacher so education and learning have always been a big part of my life.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and have wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. Each student is different in how they learn the material needed for class and I find it to be very important to teach the student in the method that works best for them. I communicate very easily with students, I am very patient, and I above all care about the student.
While pursuing my BA accounting and BA in business finance at Wilmington College, I was very involved in tutoring other students at the college. This helps the student to feel comfortable so they can ask questions, even those they may feel to be stupid. I believe teaching is the key to each child's future. When presented with the chance to succeed, I believe each child will. I believe in presenting each child with a verbal and visual explanation of each objective. I then believe that each child needs the chance to complete a task with encouragement and success before independent work. Assessment should only be taken AFTER a child has experienced numerous chances for understanding, practice, and mastery. Flexibility is another thing that many students are not allowed in class, and I believe is very important to success. This is permitted in my classes on an as-needed basis.
