After 13 years of employment with the Oklahoma City Police Department, I decided to finish my degree, and become a certified teacher. This decision was due to the Police Department recruiting me to teach various computer classes to police officers. I have taught various beginning and advanced computer classes, Algebra II, and business math. I have also tutored students who have failed high school math classes. Each student I have tutored has brought their grade up to at least a "C" average (from a failing score). One student I tutored enrolled in a class at OU for high school credit (Algebra II). After failing his class in his high school setting, he received an A one semester and a B the other.

I first try to assess the students' sticking point and start from there. Many times the student misses or does not understand a fundamental point that causes confusion when later applied. I welcome the challenge to find creative examples and methods that help the student grasp the concept. I consider my personality as patient, easy going and considerate.
Outside of work, I taught parents who had been off from work but wished to re-enter the job market. The subject was computer skills using and navigating the MicroSoft Office products of Word and Excel. I am a very easy-going funloving person. But I also expect the same respect from children and their parents as they expect from me. I try to find out what things childen are interested in, then I try to adopt the subject material and my style to use that to help them to learn. Learning should be fun, not a chore.
I worked a full-time job while also attending school full-time while earning my Degree. I am a person who values the benefits of an educaiton very much.
