I obtained my BA in Social Work and have worked in that field since 1993. In 2005 I began a part time job as an Adult Education instructor for Sentinel Career Center where my primary focus was language arts/writing. I was part of the STAR reading program where I became certified to teach adults to read. In this program and as a GED instructor I have tutored many individuals of varying ages, education levels and backgrounds. In my work as a social worker, I work primarily with children with mental health issues/learning disabilities where the focus is on behavior, organizational,study and communication skills and parenting education.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach by example and give the student the opportunity to learn by doing. I do not do the work for the student, but instead allow him or her to do the work with my support until he or she is capable of doing the work independently. I am patient and thorough with my work. I do not get angry and I do not act strict with students. I also believe that I can learn from them just as they can learn from me, and therefore I always give them to chance to communicate their thoughts and feelings to me.
I received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in political science in 2009. I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I love teaching and have wanted to be a teacher from a very young age. Each student is different in how they learn the material needed for class and I find it to be very important to teach the student in the method that works best for them. I communicate very easily with students, I am very patient, and I above all care about the student.
While pursuing my BA accounting and BA in business finance at Wilmington College, I was very involved in tutoring other students at the college.
