I received training as a chemist from both Franklin and Marshall and UW-Madison. I enjoy researching and solving chemistry problems. I have experience making creative lessons, practice questions, and giving good analogies for learning chemistry. I am a teacher at a local high school and I enjoy giving back to the community. Over the years, I have tutored algebra, chemistry, ICP, and SAT math. Tutoring and helping others is very important to me and I look forward to working with you.

Science has always been very fascinating to me and I love to share what I have learned in the sciences. I think that it is important that all students have a good grasp of biology, chemistry and math to ensure a good understanding of how the earth works. I have two years of tutoring experience in college chemistry with the University Learning Center at Penn State. I tutored over twenty students in college chemistry. I am currently tutoring and mentoring a student in High School algerbra and chemistry for free.
I believe in problem-based tutoring for algebra, and construct problems based on the textbook problems whenever possible. I let the student try the problem first, watching closely for any mistakes, and then teach the rules as necessary, and summarize mistakes after each set of problems. However, I can also teach all the rules beforehand if a student has been absent from class. For chemistry, I reviewed class notes with students and then explained the fundamentals whenever there was a question, and then did practice problems with the students.

To do this, when coaching Chemistry, I would have the student present a problem. Then, I'd say, well, let's figure this out together. And, truly, that is what we would do, step by step, by asking questions. What do we know? What do we need to figure out? Essentially showing them the thought process out loud, and involving them in obtaining the solution. This approach helps develop confidence. Repeating creates familiarity.
