I truly enjoy working with children! It gives me great worth and value in enriching the lives of the children I come in contact with. Building the self esteem in children, and developing rapport with my students has proven to give me an upper hand in achieving growth in the academic areas I tutor. I firmly believe in meeting the child where they are at and growing from there. I also believe in making learning fun! The tutoring experience should NOT be one of drudgery! I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes.
