A Little Bit About Me...

I have been involved in teaching of some sort since young adulthood. My formal experience was the 17 years I spent teaching Philosophy at Gonzaga University and North Idaho College. Prior to that, I spent a number of years teaching guitar. I am a published author and Internet radio podcaster, teaching on various topics in philosophy and spirituality. As a traveling lecturer, I have conducted instructional seminars and workshops on spiritual themes all over the country.
I am devoted to the Socratic method. Teaching with leading questions allows my students to formulate within their own minds the connections necessary to grasp the concepts we are addressing. I enjoy teaching kids of all ages and get along well with them while maintaining a degree of respect from them. I am capable at keeping them on task, even with challenging personalities. I enjoy doing hands-on work as well as print focused work. I have developed patience working with my own six kids in our home. I believe strongly that one-on-one tutoring is the most effective way to help a child achieve and any child will do well when the teaching is tailored to their needs.
