I am certified to teach secondary mathematics and social studies by the state of OHIO. I also enjoy teaching college students and tutoring on a weekly basis. I teach for the students to learn and to enjoy the learning process. I am satisfied when I see the students are able to grasp the concepts on their own and see how the application works. Over many years as an IT person, I worked with clients, one on one, teaching them how to get their computer to do what they want it to do. Often times, the client would be very frustrated. I needed to first, relieve the frustration – then determine what needed to be done to rectify the situation (through a question and answer processes). Additionally, positive reinforcement is needed throughout the learning process to allow for a more affirmative result.

I tend to use stories and analogies to break down complex and arcane concepts into everyday images to make them easier to understand. Accounting lends itself well to this approach because at its core GAAP accounting is nothing more than a common sense approach to valuing and reporting financial transactions. Shorn of their technical jargon, one can see that they are easy to understand. The key is how to remove the technical wrappings so that the student can see the intuitive logic behind the jargon. I earned a 98% in my College Algebra course this past fall so I am here to lend a hand to those who could use it. My focus in college was Communication with a minor in Philosophy. I also studied international relations for 6 months in Europe, earned a certificate in graphic and web design in San Francisco, and I am currently studying medical imaging here in Cleveland. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutoring experience in mathematics at the secondary and high school levels. One example of tutoring at the secondary level was when I tutored an eighth grade student in pre-algebra to improve his math skills to prepare him for high school algebra. The result of this particular tutoring was that the student began to understand and enjoy math, which was one of my goals. His grades subsequently rose from the "C" level to an "A" level.
