15 years of teaching HS biology, chemistry and applied physics I and II. 6 years of one on one HS math, science and SAT math prep tutoring. I coached and supervised our schools Science Olympiad team for 10 years and was an official at the state's competition. I worked on developing District and State of Delaware standards for HS science.
I use multiple teaching styles, ( re-learning, dimensions of learning, and co-operative learning)to match a students learning style and to expose students different types of learning. I use text material, computer based learning websites and self created materials to ensure a students success.

I believe that everyone is teachable, if the student has the desire and the teacher has the commitment. I tend to be a patient teacher, with high standards. I actively question the student, which allows me to challenge the student in my presence, where I am able to guide him/her. While I have predominantly tutored college students, I have also taught adults and children. I believe that Mathematics is the language of all sciences, and that children need a good foundation in this subject to succeed. I am passionate about achieving understanding of Mathematical topics in a child, since I believe many children dislike Math simply because they do not understand it. My teaching style is more student centered. I believe that involving the students with hands on activities allows them to grasp and understand certain topics easier. Especially in a science classroom where we are studying intangible topics, like the core of the earth, or the stars, or the atmosphere, students may have difficulties understanding these ideas from a strictly lecture based approach to educating. Also I understand that schools are becoming more and more diverse regarding the student body population. This fact means that it is important for me to use multiple types of assessment and teaching methods in the classroom.
