My comments on tutoring ACT : I homeschooled my children and helped my two oldest study for and do very well on this test.

I homeschooled my three daughters for 10 years, right through high school. All three have gone on to Colllege and have excelled, making the Dean's list. In the work world, two have been highly praised for their writing skills. After homeschooling, I began tutoring. I have over 5 years experience and have tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, as well as adults preparing for exams such as the GED. I received a double major in English and Religion at Presbyterian College. I tutored for three years at Thornwell home for children. I have one year experience working specifically with K5-5th grade. I have two years experience working with multi-grade groups. I am proficient in English as well as moderate in Science and Math, with History being my weakest subject.

I started substitute teaching in September 2001 in the Greenville County School District in Greenville, South Carolina. The Greenville County School District uses a computer system to contact teachers to substitute in schools which starts calling substitute teachers at 5:30am on the school day. I taught K-12 all subjects and special ed. In September through December 2005 I substituted at Duncan Elementry School in Duncan, South Carolina K-3rd grade. January through June 2006 I substitute taught at Easley High School in Easley, South Carolina all classes.
Use of teaching materials is very important in my teaching. There are methods for teaching children to read and to do math that use materials sold by companies. One way to find out about teaching materials to use is to ask people who have home schooled.
