Teaching and learning are inextricably linked. Hence, I espouse to an approach that focuses more on tapping into the students learning schema than on teaching/tutoring per se. That being said, I am very interested in establishing the motivation/purpose for learning and then developing a plan, with the student, and where appropriate the parent, that will help the student achieve his/her desired goal and/or purpose.
Working with central city and at-risk youth is my life work. For the past ten years I have worked in a myriad of social service and educational settings employing a plethora of strategies aimed at helping central city and at-risk students achieve academic, career and social success.
