At the university level, my experience has shown me that all students can have trouble from basic to advanced concepts. I believe that teaching through lecture and hands-on activities is the most effective. A student that is capable of "teaching" the teacher a lesson and explaining the subject in their own words will have a greater understanding of the subject. When I teach and tutor I explain to the student the topic in my words, and then continue to ask for feedback until the student is capable of explaining the lesson in their own words.
While attending law school, I spent 2 full academic years tutoring first year law students. I tutored property and constitutional law. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is easy going and less formal. I know that each student learns best in a unique way. I feel that the most effective teachers try to mold their teaching style to the student rather than the other way around. Also I like to make sure that the student learns how the particular information being taught fits in the larger field of study. I find this greatly enhances retention of information and the ability to use that information.
From January of 2002 to June 2008 I taught rock climbing classes for Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon. These were 1 credit PE classes that covered beginning, intermediate and advanced rock climbing. I prepared lessons, gave lectures, supervised student practice and assessed student performance. In addition during the 2003/03 I tutored students in Geology and Mathematics while I attended Clackamas Community College.
