I prefer to help my students make discoveries on their own. It seems to me that a good teacher is there to guide and point a student in a way that will help him learn truths. These learned truths become much more than a set of facts to be memorized. Rather, they are ideas and concepts that have been discovered by the student, and as such treasured and considered precious. I am fascinated by the world in which we live, especially by the part that is explored, discovered and understood by science. To prepare for my own exploration of the world, I studied zoology, chemistry, genetics, anatomy, and biology; these efforts resulted in three degrees: a BS, a MS, and a PhD.
