A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach and tutor mathematics, especially algebra, when students cannot seem to grasp basic concepts. Usually when a analogy to money is used, it becomes a little more successful. Learning and teaching have always been a joy to me. I believe that good reading skills are essential to good learning at all levels and in all subjects. I read a lot as a child, as I grew up, and I continue to enjoy reading today. Biology is one of my top subjects! I received my BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Chemistry with honors in 2010. As an undergraduate I served as the supplemental instructor leading peer reviewed tutor sessions for a Cellular and Molecular Biology, Genetics and Evolution class as well as an Organism and Ecological Biology class. Due to my postive reinforcement and support, I won awards as a Master SI leader (College Reading and Learning Association) as well as University awards for most attendees, and creative learning techniques. Once in a classroom I realized that I was meant to teach. I love working with students who are challenging and those who challenge me. While obtaining my Master of Science in Biology at the State University of New York College at Brockport I was a teaching assistant for various biology labs. Also as a graduate student I was asked to hold review sessions for the entire Microbiology class for a semester. During these review sessions I would hold lectures and ask any questions, as the Microbiology tutor I also held office hours for all students.
