A Little Bit About Me...

My name is Jim, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to be your or your child's tutor.I am a junior at Georgia Tech now. I have a double major of mechanical and computer science. My GPA is 3.7, and I got a full score of math in all my ACT tests. Also, I am top 25% students in my major. Since 2012, I have taught TOEFL, SAT, ACT and Chinese to students at test-prep and language. I am now doing co-op program in washington, GA.
I review concepts until it's clear that the student has mastered them, and new ones are introduced only when the student is ready. In addition to increasing my students' scores, I help students take ownership of their learning, with the goal of making them an independent and successful student.

My comments on tutoring Algebra : Very strong in teaching this subject

I have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in History. I have 7 years experience as an Engineer. In High School I went to an international baccalaureate school and focused on math and science. I believe that tutoring is the key to successful learning by incorporating the following 5 rules to teaching: Assist A tutor's main job responsibility is to assist students academically in whichever subject(s) the students are seeking improvement. This may be difficult at first because not everyone learns the same way, so before a tutor can assist, he should get to know his students a little. Evaluate After tutoring for a while, some tutors will go back and evaluate students' progress in order to see where improvements can be made. The tutor may evaluate her teaching skills to make sure her students are receiving enough attention and assistance. Motivate A tutor should ... read more

Math, Science, ACT, SAT, APs, College Apps

I tend to assess the individual's academic needs and then formulate a plan that accomplishes the student's academic goals, while still adhering to the student's needs. I cannot present exactly which teaching approach I will use until I meet with my student and discuss their current academic status.
I'm a current pre-medical student studying Economics and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. I am ecstatic to help my fellow Georgians achieve all of their academic goals. I have been helping my classmates with schoolwork since I can remember, and I feel like tutoring is a natural transition for me. My greatest strength is math, but I am adept in the majority of academic areas. I am able to work with kids of all ages, from fundamentals to standardized test preparation (primarily the ACT, SAT, and AP exams) to college applications. I personally lacked a great deal of guidance in preparing ... read more

Love children and think that all are capable of learning!

I think each child has a different learning style and once you find that they enjoy learning. I like to keep students active and do different projects that they can be creative in doing.

Medical Student who tutors in: MATH, ENGLISH and BIOLOGY

I tend to focus on an individuals weaknesses and use concrete examples to help clarify topics. I also feel it is best to understand the basics first and subsequently build upon that foundation.
I am currently in my 4th year of medical school and completed my undergraduate education at the University of California Berkeley where I received a bachelors in both Biology and Education. I tutored both math and english during my college years. Throughout my education I have received straight A's in math up to the calculus level and am most comfortable teaching elementary, pre-algebra, algebra I and II. With regards to english, I have excelled throughout my education including passing my AP exam in high school and earning A's at the college level. I have taught basic skills, creative writing, grammar, spelling and helped with personal statements. Lastly, as a medical student I have m ... read more

Profile Banner? What's this for? I'm awesome? What else?

I tutored a fourth grader for one school year. I have also tutored at a tutoring center and worked with kindergarten children. Unfortunately I was only there for one month due to scheduling issues with my college classes. I do volunteer with the nursery and young children at my church from time to time and I have experience teaching kids from preschool all the way up to sixth grade (due to volunteering at church).
I'm fairly laid back. I try to get to know the student first and see how they do with their work on their own and of course helping them out when needed. Occasionally, I'll give my own tests to see how well their test taking skills are and how they do under pressure. Once I get an idea of which area is their weak point, I'll prioritize the subjects so that more time is focused on their weak area whether it be reading, math, writing, or even just test taking skills. Is your child ready for Common Core GPS Math????

I have been teaching middle school math for twenty seven years. I have been tutoring for 22 years. I myself had trouble with math when I was growing up and that helps me to break the standard down in smaller steps to help the student to understand. I like to teach the concept and then use a game and/ or puzzle to reinforce it. I also am a firm believer in repetition.

Learning is not optional. Remember...

My teaching style varies from one student to another depending on their learning style and strategies. However, in most cases, I tend to fall under the natural and communicative teaching approach for most of the subject matters.
I have been teaching and tutoring a diverse student population for almost 9 years. So far, it has been a mutually interesting experience for both parts, students and teacher. I started my teaching career through instructing languages, mainly French, my native language, for the one and a half year, and then I included different sorts of Math as well till the present. I have in possession a Bachelor's degree, two Master's degrees and an ongoing PhD. My main field stream is teaching methods and theories of languages, multiple subjects and special need instruction as well. Graduated cum laude from the University of West GA with a BS in biology. While there I was a member of TriBeta, a biological honors society, and lead biology workshops designed to help first and second year biology students get a better understanding of the fundamentals of biology. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelor's in Computer Science with focus on the Microsoft languages (C++, C#, ASP, dotNEt, etc.) The requirements for this degree was heavy in math. I do, however, feel better qualified in verbal and writing skills. I also have a minor in Philosophy and Theology. This ties in with my High School and middle school upbringing, having attended a Catholic middle and High school as well as the University I attended being a Baptist school. My full time job (Monday - Friday mornings) is as a programmer, so my technical knowledge is always fresh in my mind.
My tutoring style is somewhat laid-back with serious undertones. I feel the best way to learn is to not have information force fed, but to allow the individual to glean knowledge and come to an understanding of the subject gradually. While I am serious about learning and education, I also consider my sense of humor my stronges ... read more

I love teaching and working with children. I enjoy helping children grow to their full potential. All children can learn if given the right tools and experiences. There are many ways to teach children. All children are different and learn in different ways. It is important to find out how each child learns, and then teach him or her accordingly. I believe hand-on practice for math skills is very important and math requires a lot of practice. I always strive to help students become the best they can be.
I have been an elementary school teacher for 3 years. I have assisted 4th and 5th grade students in math and reading. A Little Bit About Me...

As a philosopher, I have what amounts to an unusual ability to convey to a student a sense of the value and importance of the subject he or she is studying. This is key in motivating any student. As a teacher, I am a careful student of the psychology and abilities of my student. To teach effectively, one must determine precisely where a student is developmentally both in terms of personal psychological maturation and intellectual skill levels, then go from there. Another key to effective teaching is the ability of the teacher to break complexities down into simpler, digestible units, then show how the units may be logically and effectually brought back together.
I am a doctor of philosophy from a top ten university, Emory. I have fifteen years teaching experience from grades K through college undergraduates. One of my two required doctoral languages was Latin, which I have taugh ... read more
