My teaching style with my own children is conversational, hands-on, and intuitive. I explore what most captures their attention, then weave in the lessons by using any available teaching aids, such as whiteboard drawings, to illustrate a point, literally.
My German parents spoke (so-called "high", or proper) German at home in NY/NJ, which came in handy after we moved overseas when I was 13. Repeating 7th grade, I learned to read and write German fluently, as well as master the local dialects and sundry colloquialisms without a lingering accent. I served as an assistant teacher for a dance company. The company had 4 classes of 20 students each. I taught classes on stretching and footwork techniques. This course includes simple math and adhearance to cadence drills. Now I work as an accountant since graduating in 1996. I feel as if I can translate complex mathematical concepts to any mind. I am also driven by the belief that it takes a village to teach a child.
