I love teaching and working with all children. I seem to have a great raport with children and can communicate with them very well. Many children have no one with whom can sit down with them and give them the one on one time and attention that it takes to help them to achieve their academic levels. I have earned a BA in Mus Ed (k-12) and a MA in Counseling, both school counseling and community agency counseling. I also am a private piano instructor as well as the Minister of Music at my church. My teaching style is very hands on. I understand that students learn in a variety of ways. Some are hands on, and need to actually get their hands on the project to understand. Some learn by seeing it. They have to see it and then maybe write it and learn by visualizing. Some learn by listening. They can listen to a lecture and hang on to every word. I understand that all children are different, and therefore lessons have to be taylored to fit each child's learning needs. I love children and enjoy teaching. When I was teaching in a public school, I was very well liked by both children and parents. I was there for every child; not just the good ones. My goal was to take the child that other teachers talked negatively about in the lunchroom and show them that I had no problems with that same child. Teachers should not stereotype. I am a very patient person who understands that the best way to teach someone anything is to find out how they learn. My goal is to help others be confident about what they do know and to not be afraid to ask questions about what they don't know. If I can't teach someone anything, I will find someone who can. I will attempt to tutor from any angle necessary so that my student has the opportunity to be successul at their struggling subject matter. I will always be very supportive through the learning process and available anytime of the day or night for questions and immediate assistance. As a child, I entered the gifted program very young and have always tutored my peers. Tutoring led me to join the Quiz Bowl and other Academic Teams as well as led me to graduate high school early.
