I believe in teaching students at their ability level and building them up to be able to comprehend and complete grade level work. I am able to express material in a variety of teaching styles, finding the one that works best for my student(s).
I have been working with children academically since 2004 in a variety of settings: one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and in the classroom. My area of strength is with students who are low learners or have learning disabilities. I am certified in both Language Arts and Math as well as Special Education and have been teaching both subjects in 7th grade for the past 5 years in Moore County.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored fellow classmates in the past throughtout middle school and high school. Although I am not certified to teach, I have taken quite a few teaching curriculum courses while attending North Carolina State University. I have the ability to teach and accomodate different learning styles with various age groups from the Pre-K level to high school ranging from elementary students to adults. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in teaching according to the curriculum. However, I will also pull in information from other historical and academic sources that will enhance the student's learning experience. I believe in allowing the student to prove their capabilities by allowing them to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. I believe students should take exams but they are not the only way I test students understanding of the material.
As a history major, I have a desire to learn more and teach more about the past. I have learned so much about the present through studying the past. I have six children of my own and know that every child learns differently, even when they come from the same family. I believe the majority of children can master the material they are presented in school, but it is a matter of time. Many children take a little more time to understand the concepts and master the skills needed to move on to the next level. Sadly many of these children aren't given the time to do it and are just passed on to the next level.
