I have tutored fellow classmates in the past throughtout middle school and high school. Although I am not certified to teach, I have taken quite a few teaching curriculum courses while attending North Carolina State University. I have the ability to teach and accomodate different learning styles with various age groups from the Pre-K level to high school ranging from elementary students to adults. I believe in teaching according to the curriculum. However, I will also pull in information from other historical and academic sources that will enhance the student's learning experience. I believe in allowing the student to prove their capabilities by allowing them to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. I believe students should take exams but they are not the only way I test students understanding of the material.
As a history major, I have a desire to learn more and teach more about the past. I have learned so much about the present through studying the past. I have written numerous papers and completed projects while in college. These will help me to teach students how to organize, prepare, and excel in history.

I have taught in the public schools of Charlotte for 32 years. After retiring from the public system, I have taught the past 7 years in private Christian education. I am now retired. My experience has been with 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in all subject areas. My degrees are in Elementary Education and Administration. I enjoy working with students on a one-on-one basis.
My teaching style is fairly laid back. I believe that students learn in a more effective manner when they are not under a lot of stress. I have been very successful in this method. I have an extensive background in math and science. I took AP Calculus in high school, and physics,statistics and calculus in college. I have also taught middle school science,K-12 art,and biology, chemistry and algebra to high school students, and subbed for geometry, algebra and algebra II, as well as numerous other subjects.
