I Want You to Believe in You!

I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.
I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. My academic record is very strong, and I believe empowering those I work with every single time. The only pre-requisites are that you have to be willing to learn, and learn how to learn.

My goal in attending the University of Tennessee was initially for the purpose of doing research; this led me to pursue a BS in BCMB.I began volunteering with middle school,high school,and college students at my church in 2005,which revealed to me my love of working with students this age.Over the past five years, I have tutored students in math and science,from fifth grade math to college-level chemistry. I worked as a substitute teacher in spring of 2008 and was hired to teach high school chemistry and eventually algebra at a private school from fall of 2008 to spring of 2010.In fall of 2009,I began taking graduate courses to gain teaching certification,and I completed this process in December of 2010,through LMU.

Since a child, I have always been curious of the world around me. My interests culminated with the completion of two degrees in the natural sciences. I consider myself a true inter-disciplinarian, supplementing both my degrees with courses in applied sciences, economics and the arts, to improve my understanding of the connections between science and the world. I also believe this is the reason I have purposed myself as a mentor or instructor for much of my life.
