I was first introduced to accounting by owning my own business. Then I was hired by an engineering company to update their bookkeeping method from paper to computer. I became proficient in troubleshooting discrepancies and providing users with solutions. I interfaced with Federal and State taxing agencies, banks, and lending institutions requiring reports and/or payments. I then moved on to a Software Development company as a Product Manager of accounting software being developed for internet use by accountants. In preparation for college, I knew that in order to get into the kind of small private colleges I was looking for, earning a high enough score on the standardized exams like the SAT and ACT was very important. Although I scored very well on both tests, my writing and reasoning skills underwent great improvement in my college's intensive honors program for accelerated studies.
