Social / Health /Behavioral Science Researcher and Educator

I have taught three courses at the higher education level (sociology courses focused on aging). I taught private trumpet lessons for 15 years along with free-lancing and conducting.
I received my Ph.D. in Social Gerontology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 2009. During my graduate training, and in the year following, I worked for Scripps Gerontology Center as a researcher. I completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Carolina Program for Health and Aging Research (CPHAR) at the Institute on Aging at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in August, 2012. I am currently working at Stanford Center on Longevity. My expertise centers on the factors that shape active engagement in later life, broadly encompassing two areas: (1) older adults’ capacity to be active; and (2) the patterns and outcomes of active engagement behaviors.
