As an employee of Collier County Public Schools for 10 years, I have been in the education field and enjoy working with students of all ages. Since 2004, I have been tutoring students from grades Pre Kindergarten through 12th grade and even post graduate students. My tutoring has been math, reading, writing, science, history and other areas like SAT testing preparation. Currently I hold a BS in Management and have a teaching certificate pending for grades Pre Kindergarten - 3rd grade. The breadth of my experience has enriched my teaching life, but left me without a luxury some of my colleagues enjoy-the sense, as embarked upon a new challenge,tutoring students, that I know what students will need, and how best to share it with them. This is not to say that I've been tossed blind into the classroom. In most cases, I've had enough prep time to gather what seem like appropriate materials, and find out something about the students I'll be working with. What I have not had is the critical mass of sameness that accrues to the teacher who stays in the same setting, at the same level, for many years in a row. I have been working in the banking field for over 15 years since I graduated with a degree in business. In Jan. 2009 I was laid off from a banking job for the second time. I am doing a career change to teaching. I have been hired as football coach at Estero High School, I will be working as a teacher this fall 2009. I have been fingerprinted by Lee County School and I am cleared to be employed. I have a son that is 8 years old I help with his home work every night. Last year in the second grade they wanted him to stay back, I said I would help him. This year in second grade he is making E & S Honor Roll.
My teaching style would be the same way I teach my son. I give him the opportunity to learn. I work with him. I put the time in to help him. I take the time to help him, and if he get a problem wrong I help him correct it.
