During my time at the University of Missouri-Columbia, I earned two degrees: a BA in Philosophy and a BA in Theater. I also took many writing classes, focusing on different types of creative writing, from fiction to poetry to playwrighting. When I graduated in 2002, I spent several years in Barcelona, Spain working with college students. During that time, I tutored students in both English and Spanish, and several times taught introductory Spanish courses to students involved in summer exchange programs.
I really enjoy ideas. One of my favorite things is to see someone make a connection for the first time between two ideas or concepts. I enjoy teaching through dialogue and conversation. I have worked with children of all ages and enjoy helping them learn. I realize that everyone does not learn at the same speed and am very patient and understanding. I believe that all children have the right to a quality education and over the years have spent as much time as I could helping any child that needed that extra one-on-one. Each child has their own unique personality and a teacher's approach needs to be fit to that student's needs. Learning is fun and all children deserve the chance to learn.
