I am a retired teacher with over 38 years of teaching both children and adults with diverse backgrounds. I have a BA and Masters degree in Education with an endorsement in ESL/Bilingual Education. I was a reading coach for 8 years where I taught teachers the best practices in teaching reading. I have taught every grade level and including college level. The last 4 years I have taught international students in an intensive English language program at a college level. As a Graduate of Saginaw Valley State University, I have obtained a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Minors in Math and Biology. I have gained knowledge in most of the sub-sets on those subjects as well as High School or College entry level in most other academic subjects. I have a deep passion for learning, and it's always my goal not only to help students learn skills but to find their inner motivation too. Teaching mainly K-8 on a consistent schedule, I have learned that some students need one-on-one teaching. Being the third teacher in Head Start, I had time to work with individual students. All children were very well prepared for kindergarten. The older children, including High School and Middle School, I would walk around the room and aide them when they were confused. I also had them read the text orally taking turns and we would do the work sheet to prepare for quiz, test or new chapter. I am very patient with those who are truly in need of assistance.
