I have always enjoyed working with students one-on-one. To teach effectively one must understand what motivates the individual, and the only way to do that is to spend time with that person. If a student is a visual learner, I will use visual aids to illustrate the lesson. If a student is an auditory learner, I will concentrate on lecture or video instruction. The key to student learning is to engage the student's interest. And of course, practice is essential when learning a skill, so I give students the opportunity to practice each skill and receive feedback, which helps guide the student into beneficial change and growth.

I come into contact with a variety of different students with different areas of interest as a public speaking teacher. My teaching philosophy is to recognize that every student needs, wants, and gets something different from their studies, and it is my job to help them do just that. Rather than conduct a “one size fits all” class, I work with my students individually to guide them in their research and help them get the most out of their speeches. A Little Bit About Me...

In my military experience, I see all sorts of learning styles and ability levels. I am able to break down hard concepts of math/science/engineering so that regardless of learning style, we can work towards understanding. I find that many students struggle because no professor has taken the time to relate it to the student in a way that they can internalize and retain. I firmly believe that everyone can reach their potential if high expectations are set and a path to reach goals is set forth.
