All Subjects and Ages. All Things are Possible...

I homeschooled my three daughters for 10 years, right through high school. All three have gone on to Colllege and have excelled, making the Dean's list. In the work world, two have been highly praised for their writing skills. After homeschooling, I began tutoring. I have over 5 years experience and have tutored elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, as well as adults preparing for exams such as the GED. I am experienced working with students who have IEP's and learning disabilities. Call or text at number below to discuss your needs.
I excel at identifying each students strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. I can quickly adapt or create lessons as needed. Most of my students look forward to our time together, as we have fun, but get our work done.

My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I've had three students who were diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and two students whom I felt were ADD/ADHD. Its very difficult for students with this diagnosis to concentrate in class let alone in an environment with too much stimulation. Because of this, I have experienced tutoring such students and understand the importance of stimulating them with motivational educational games as well as giving lots of breaks to rest their minds.

I am a very outgoing and energetic but patient teacher. I will often push my student beyond what they believe they are capable of. For example, my lowest kindergarten class by the end of the fourth semester was reading second grade level books and worksheets. My second grade level students were reading by the end of the second semester fourth to sixth grade reads. I will never encourage failure out of a student nor will I tolerate the child to feel they are not smart. I understand there maybe some hurdles a child goes through and with just a little push in the right direction they can succeed in anything.
I have taught elementary children, grades kindergarten through the fifth grade for three years overseas. I have also tutored for over four years. I was the head kindergarten teacher, phonics and reading teacher. I oversaw the kindergarten teachers, reviewed curriculum for each se ... read more

Learning is not optional. Remember...

I have been teaching and tutoring a diverse student population for almost 9 years. So far, it has been a mutually interesting experience for both parts, students and teacher. I started my teaching career through instructing languages, mainly French, my native language, for the one and a half year, and then I included different sorts of Math as well till the present. I have in possession a Bachelor's degree, two Master's degrees and an ongoing PhD. My main field stream is teaching methods and theories of languages, multiple subjects and special need instruction as well. During my teaching and tutoring experience, I have had the chance to explore different kinds of students learning backgrounds and helping them accordingly. I am a teacher and a tutor, yet, I have gone through quite an interestingly rich learning experience myself. I have helped students coming from wealthy and rich ... read more

I enjoy teaching and do my best to make learning fun and easy for my pupils. I approach lessons by letting the student realize how and why the lesson is important and how it relates to their lives. I firmly believe everyone can learn; the style in which they learn may differ from others, but given the correct approach, all teachers/tutors can be successful.
With my Bachelor's degree, I began tutoring through Reading Success and conducted private tutoring of Georgia History. I progressed to teaching English, Spanish, and some Special Education Resource classes at the High School level, and continued to teach lower level English classes at a local college along with reading in an Adult Continuing Education program through another college. My writing skills have been sharpened as I edited and wrote articles for newsletters, newspaper releases, and in an administrative capacity.

I absolutely love working with children in an attempt to help them to realize the value of a quality education. I have worked with children with psychological and behavioral issues and have helped them to thrive in an educational setting and to strive towards changing their own circumstances to create brighter futures for themselves. I am extremely creative and am always trying to find ways to help the children learn through experience and action, instead of rote memorization. I think of myself as having a lot of patience and compassion for individuals needs for a variety of teaching styles.

I enjoy teaching almost as much as I enjoy learning. I believe that basic education skills are the foundation for success. Progressing through school in Independent Study Classes, I am fully aware that conventional methods of teaching and studying do not work for every child. I invite and accept the challenge of discovering new ways to share the knowledge that I have gathered so far in my educational career. I think it’s important to maintain patience and provide support to anyone who may need a little extra help learning a skill.
I began tutoring in the third grade after I was accepted into Independent Study Classes. I was selected to tutor my fellow classmates in spelling and reading comprehension. My volunteer tutoring continued throughout my grade school years and into my higher education career. Once in college, I was hired as a mental health worker and tutor to austitic child ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent college graduate, I was very determined to be one of the first college graduates in my family. I earned my BS in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in three years due to my determination, focus, and dedication. I am currently persuing my Masters in Education. I have also learned extensive grammatical and syntax skills due to a large number of research papers and essays in many various areas of study. For the past four years, I have tutored students in English, mathematics, sciences, and history.
I enjoy working with children of all ages. I believe that because each child is different, they learn differently, and therefore I must find a teaching style that helps that particular study achieve their maximum ability. I understand that some students are more visual while others may be auditory. I consider myself to be patient and understanding, and I believe that all child ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with youth. I consider myself to be an advocate for the rights and needs of youth. My bachelor's and master's degrees are both in special education. I went into the field of special education with the heart to help the "under-dog". I wanted to help the children with behavioral issues. I wanted to help the one who performed below average academically. I gained an understanding that what was "fair" was not giving everyone the same, but it was meeting every individual's need.
I believe in consistency in my approach to classroom management, behavior support, and with instruction. Direct Instruction is proven by research to help students who are significantly behind in academic performance. I like to incorporate modeling, giving examples, engaging students, and guided practice before independent work. These strategies enhance student performance. It is also essen ... read more

More About This Tutor...

As a teacher I witnessed first hand the challenges students face in public schools. Due to the importance placed on standardized tests, students are often taught with a single focus in mind. Often times the different needs and learning styles of students are overlooked or ignored completely. I, on the other hand, prefer to take a holistic approach to education. Student’s goals should be clearly outlined and data driven. An individual learning plan should be designed for the student based on his or her strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. This plan should elicit student investment and should allow for teachers and tutors to measure both mastery and growth of the student.
