My comments on tutoring Journalism : My Thesis is published on my website. I have many original stories published on the Internet. I was nominated for an Academy Award for my first Feature Documentary.

I worked as a high fashion model and actress while helping my husband through Medical School. I went on to study photography and filmmaking at New York University and was nominated for my first feature Documentary Film, Lost Control, at the American Film Festival. I founded a Non Profit to teach Creative Art Education to Inner City Students in NYC and in Rio de Janeiro before going back to school to earn a Masters in Media and another Masters in International Affairs. I am currently working on a novel. I have a published book of Photography, With Glory I So Humbly Stand, on Amazon. I had the great privilege of showing my photographic works with Gordon Parks and James Van der Zee.
I enjoy showing the creative works of successful works by people that were both my mentors and friends.

Never stop learning!

I grasped the importance of education at a very young age and excelled throughout school. Early in my youth I also developed a sincere passion for helping fellow classmates who I saw were having difficulties comprehending course material. I had a knack for connecting with students, identifying the point of confusion, and creating different avenues to reach full comprehension of a subject matter. I have since went on to develop tutoring groups on all educational levels. I co-founded a youth group T.U.F.F. (Teach Us First Foundation) where we attend local elementary schools offering tutoring services in Math, English, Sciences and Social Studies. During high school I developed a teen study group entitled Let's Rap where we would meet (with professional tutors on site), assist each other with homework and discuss any material that was causing confusion in class. During my time at Albany ... read more

I love working with people and helping them. I believe in constructive discussion, using aids of whatever sort to help make points, and to pick up on a person's true learning style. Some learn from reading, some from doing, some from trial and error. Once you pick up on that you can move forward much more efficiently in terms of helping someone grasp the subject matter in question.

As an undergraduate, I participated in two tutoring programs, over the span of two years, teaching middle school children afterschool and teaching Dominican immigrants during a summer ESL program. While in high school, I also was appointed by my high school principal to be an assistant instructor/tutor for an AP World History and AP U.S History course. While teaching and tutoring AP World History students, I helped my pupils prepare for both routine classroom exams and the AP exam by designing pneumonic exercises for facts, as well as coming up with creative ways of teaching reoccurring historic themes.
I am a firm believer in understanding facts/concepts, and not simply memorizing or cramming them for a brief period of time. Therefore, my approach to tutoring is to present material in a manner that allows a pupil to learn at a comfortable pace, while crafting a lesson plan spe ... read more

More About This Tutor...

As a special education major and history minor, I have learned so much about helping children succeed. I am currently working toward my bachelors degree at Brenau University. This has enabled me to do various field experiences and an internship that deals with children of various ages. I have worked with all subjects from grades K-12. I have a social studies concentration with my major.
I enjoy working with all children. I believe that my teaching should be differientiated to fit the learning style of each student I work with. This is because all children learn differently and i have to use which strategy that works best with each particular student. All children can learn and succeed if they were given the opportunity.
