Through my teaching experiences, I have found the method of facilitating rather than dictating, to be a highly beneficial style of teaching. I enjoy working with all children. We all have different learning styles and as a teacher, it is up to me to figure out the student's learning style and tailor the teaching to that student. I am a positive person. When it comes to teaching, I try to emulate my high school algebra teacher and make learning fun and interesting. Because of him, I fell in love with math and work advanced algebra problems and still work math problems just for fun after all these years.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught 4 and 5th grade in the Texas School Systems for 24 years. I worked as a retired teacher in the Adams Wells Special Services Coop for 3 years (2006-2009)as a teacher's aide with special needs students both in the elementary and high school levels. Those children varied from autistic, cerebal palsy, Attention Deficit Disorders with and without Hyperactivity. I really enjoyed working with these students to help them with their reading, math, and overall achievement. I am currently employed as a substitute teacher with the North Adams Community Schools on K-12 Levels. I also worked with the district in a specially funded program for a homework and tutoring afterschool program on 4th and Kindergarten levels.

Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it.
