My comments on tutoring Elementary : I have student teaching experience in the elementary school setting.

My teaching style incorporates all learning styles, because I am a firm believer that we all learn differently. I am a very patient and passionate teacher. Being excited about the subject is key to being a successful teacher. However, I expect my students to be motivated and to give 100 percent effort to their studies.
I studied Elementary Education during my undergraduate. During this time, I was a student teacher on several different occasions. I assisted the home room teacher and independently planned and taught lessons to the students. I have worked with grades 1 to 5 as a student teacher. Having two wonderful elementary teachers, I was inspired to become a teacher. I graduated in 1988 with an Elementary Education degree. I began my career as a teacher's aide but soon decided to be a stay-at-home mom to my two children. In 1994, I began to home teach my three children. I graduated my youngest in 2008. In 2004, I substitute taught for two local school districts. In spring 2008 I renewed my teaching license. I received my first teaching job at a Christian school in Indianapolis where I taught first grade. The school downsized so I resigned allowing the tenured teachers to keep their jobs. (I was the last hired, therefore would have been the first to go). Since that time, I have been a substitute teacher and a tutor.

After learning various teaching and learning styles at Indiana State University, I feel it is important to find each child’s unique learning style. After this is accomplished, I then apply the teaching styles that the student will learn best from. I enjoy using visuals and hands-on activities when working with a student.
