My comments on tutoring PSAT : I took prep classes for the SAT but took this test mainly as an indicator of where i needed to focus for the real SAT. However, the tests are very similar and because of my expertise on the SATs I feel beyond confident in both my ability to teach the concepts and improve scores.

I have helped my classmates and have had one official student as of this summer. However, I have learned how to explain concepts so that students dont just memorize, they will gain a thought process and applicable knowledge that will enable them to solve even the most complex problems. Having this mentality of preparation and success will being them to reach their goals.
Teaching new concepts, practice applying the new material, review, and more practice of the material to solidify the concepts.

I received a technology degree in 1975. Several years later I returned to college to persue a Physics/Mechanical Engineering Degree from SUNY New Paltz and RPI. I was an "A" student in Physics and enjoyed tutoring many classmates. I was a guest lecturer several times at RPI. Due to work and family commitments I did not complete the degree. I would want each student in my classroom to feel wanted and feel a sense of their identity present even when they leave the classroom. Each student should be given attention. To understand what they feel and how they react to the material being presented to them is very important to me. I would encourage students to learn and let their views be heard. Classroom discussions and debates can be great tools when you want students to become active and to voice out opinions. I would want the classroom to be a medium through which I can motivate students to question one another and help each other to pull through to gain “knowledge”.
