Composition is one of my top subjects! I taught all the English courses listed at 2 colleges and previously at two private high schools. My student evaluations were excellent. I am now retired but would like to help some ambitious older student who wants to catch up with their education. I also worked extensively with learning disabled students in a college tutoring center.

I have worked with teenagers, young adults and older students returning to college. I work especially well with students who have a lack of confidence about their academic or intellectual abilities. My style of teaching really depends on the student and his/her learning style. Different students learn in different ways. I believe it is my responsibility to find which style works best for the student(s).
First teaching job was in a school for severely autistic children. After being there for a year I taught in a residential home for boys. This was challenging but probably one of my favorite jobs as a teacher. Because of the distance from home to work (about 1-1/2 hrs.), I applied at an urban school 20 minutes from my home. My first job there was managing the Young Parents Program. This was a program for high school girls who were pregnant or had already had a child. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is hands on I think most children learn better when they can see it for themselves and how things work. For younger children I try to make up a song and sign it for them and they seem to learn better when u sign it. My career has been in advertising, graphic design, and editing/ publishing. In recent years, I have substituted in area junior and high schools, and I have taught at a certificate-granting school (now a junior college) with an emphasis on English grammar and composition.
