I take a look at what the existing instruction materials are attempting to convey and I add to that or expound on that. I use Google extensively to look for similar examples to the problems the student might be having. I believe that it is best to solve any given problem in at least two different ways if you really want to get some insight. I always taught in a tutorial style, where after I've introduced the material the students must solve a puzzle or problem based on it.
