I taught Freshman Composition to high school seniors in the Dual Credit Program at Pierpont Community and Technical College, Fairmont, WV in 2011. I was also a teacher's assistant at the University of Virginia. My poetry has been published in several journals, two chapbooks and an anthology of NH writers.

As a person who is both respectful and fond of the English language, I feel that I have an advantage in opening lines of communication with students. Because my area of expertise is language, I find it easy to express myself in a way that a student would understand. An important aspect of teaching is not only expressing oneself eloquently, however; it is also vital to be a good listener. This is something I pride myself on. If a teacher cannot understand what a student finds to be confusing, then the teacher cannot accurately solve a problem. I believe all students are capable of learning, as long as the information is provided to them in a way that they can relate to and understand.
