Because I have had to meet the needs of so many different students in so many different environments, I am flexible with teaching methods. A lack of resources overseas drove me to be creative and exercise methods of experiential learning: hands-on and engaged learning. As a student of life I believe that the best thing we can do for our children is to teach them how to learn. With that particular tool in their toolbox, there is no limit to what they can accomplish. In school it led me to become valedictorian of my high school class and Phi Beta Kappa in college, and it has allowed my learning to continue throughout my adult life. If we want our children to reach their true potential, they need to learn how to learn.
I have a BS in Chemistry, an MFS in Forensic Chemistry and a strong aptitude in math and computers. I first began tutoring under the direction of Nancy Donohue-Berthiaume at Quinsigamond College. I turored in Introductory Accounting, basic and college level mathematics. In my Sophmore symester, I was presented with a challenge. A young man who was both Dislexic, and Mathlexic was failing basic mathematics. In less then 1/2 hour, I was able to help him go from failing grades to straight A's. Later, I tutored fellow students in Pre-Calculus while taking the course myself. I ended up with a 4.0 GPA in that class. Later, I was provisionally certified to teach in 7th & 8th grade english and mathematics and in recent years I have felt more and more, because of my desire to help other's I would like to persue tutoring if possible.
