Helping students learn and learn how to grow

I like students to be comfortable, enjoy their experiences with me as much as possible, and learn not only the material they need to study, but also habits and practices that will help them with future studies.

Shakespeare is one of my top subjects! I have studied Shakespeare in both a literary and theatrical sense. I have acted in several Shakespeare performance and spent much of my time in college studying Shakespeare. I can help with understanding the language, the verse and prose, as well as the themes of each piece (play, sonnet, etc).

I understand that there are many learning styles and there is no correct or right way to learn. I try to approach a subject from every angle. I have a passion for these subjects. If students lack motivation or direction, it’s often because they are trying to perform an advanced task without basic skills. For example, many students know about the “five-paragraph essay” format, but don’t know how to organize the individual sentences. The first part of my philosophy focuses on providing students with these basic skills, as doing so prepares and makes them eager to face their assignments.
