I am a graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor's degree in English. In addition to studying English I also studied fine arts (painting, drawing, art history) and Spanish. The summer I was a camp counselor I knew that I wanted to make a difference in children's lives. At that point, I decided to complete my BS in Kinesiology and then pursue an MA in Education. Upon graduation, I was employed by Detroit Public Schools teaching low income, bilingual children. I have had nearly five years of experience in tutoring and mentoring. During college I was an English as a Second Language (ESL) tutor at two different non-profits. I currently am an Americorps member in the Downriver communities. In this position I teach ESL, GED prep, after-school tutoring, as well as a science program aimed at elementary students in River Rouge.
